Applied Business AQA– AS/A2 Structure
Outline A/S Applied structure:
- 9 hours of lessons per fortnight, 3 units studied each year
- At the end of year 12, all students who pass all 3 units gain an A/S GCE in Applied Business. A full A-level in Applied Business is gained at the end of year 13.

General Course Details |
This course follows the Edexcel Business Studies syllabus. T There is a written examination and controlled assessment Unit 1 – Examination Paper which is multiple choice and objective test questions - 25% Unit 2 – Controlled Assessment - 25% Unit 3 – Written exam which is a mixture of multiple choice, data response, short answer, extended writing and scenario based questions – 50%

Topics & Activities Covered |
Unit 1 introduces Students to starting up a small business. It covers how to spot a business opportunity and how to put that business idea into practice, and making the start-up effective by understanding the economic context. In unit 2 students research and investigate a small business. In unit 3 students study marketing, meeting customer needs, financial management, people management and the wider world affecting business. |
