DEAR week raises the profile of reading across the school

Last week students across the school took part in DEAR week. Drop Everything and Read week (DEAR) is an opportunity for all staff and students to engage with reading in a really positive and relaxed way. All students ‘dropped everything’ and read for 25 minutes during P3.
For some classes, this was with the teacher reading to them from a specific source linked to their current topic of study or just from a novel or story they loved. Others utilised this opportunity to introduce students to new ideas or concepts through articles or blog posts. For some classes, students just got to enjoy some quiet time to read independently alongside their teachers.
We are passionate about promoting a love of reading and it is clear to see that all the students were fully engaged and embraced the opportunity to read in class.
