Year 10 Mini Projects
Students
taking this option will have the opportunity to tackle the type of
design problems that would be resolved by a Graphic Designer or Graphic
Artist. Our first mini project investigates styles of illustration and
character development. We will use a simple stop frame animation
technique to produce a flick book then go on to write and produce a
commercial based on a created character.
Our second mini project will be based on chocolate and the promotion of a new brand with packaging concept. Students will create a bar of their own design and experiment with flavours to identify a market and customer for their product.
Major Project Summer Term Onwards
After learning the drawing and manufacturing skills in terms one and two in year ten, students will be free to concentrate on their major project, which will count for 60% of their final grade. Both manual techniques and Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM) will be taught and used.
Subjects for this project could range from promoting an up and coming new band, designing the advertising campaign for a range of cosmetics, launching a new magazine for teenagers to publicising a major sporting event. The options are only limited by your imagination and motivation to succeed.
