Functional Skills

ICT skills and knowledge are a basic requirement for the vast majority of jobs and are an important aspect of our every day lives. We feel it is important for every student to leave Easthampstead Park School with an ICT qualification.

We recommend the GCSE ICT option for those who are interested in ICT. But for those not wishing to choose ICT as an option, employers, colleges and further education establishments will expect students to have at least a certificate in ICT Key Skills.

Students are taught ICT Key skills (once a week) and complete cross-curricular activities (related to their English, Maths and PHSE lessons), developing their skills and knowledge.

Assessment – Each student submits an ICT portfolio. There is also a 1 hour multiple choice exam at the end of year 11.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Research and select relevant information
  • Enter and combine information
  • Develop and interpret information
  • Develop appropriate and accurate presentations using different software
