SPECIFICATION A
There is two units in AS Psychology (PSYA 1 and PSYA 2) each weighing 50% of total AS mark and both units are assessed by 1 hour and 30 minutes exam. Questions include short answer, stimulus material and one 12-mark question requiring extended writing in which QWC (Quality of Written Communication) will be assessed.

You will be expected to:
- Develop knowledge and understanding of 5 different areas of Psychology
- Develop skills of analysis, evaluation and application in relation to 5 different areas of Psychology

- Develop knowledge and understanding of ethical issues associated with these areas of Psychology

There is opportunity to learn about applications of psychology and how theory is applied in real life situations.

How much does this unit count toward a full A Level? 25%
G544: Approaches and Research Methods in Psychology
This unit is made up of two parts: a) research methods (design of a practical project) and b) structured questions bringing together approaches, perspectives, methods, issues and debates covered throughout the course.
How is this unit assessed? 1 hour 30 mins exam
How much does this unit count toward a full A Level? 25%

There are trips to the home of Freud (a famous psychologist) and to courtrooms and conferences.
There are also prizes throughout the year for good effort and behaviour, and a Psychology Prize for the best work at the Sixth Form Presentation Evening!!

In addition to the standard number of GCSEs grade C or above needed to enter the Sixth Form, you will also need the following:
