The School Council

School Council BadgeAt Easthampstead Park we aim to work in partnership with students to build a sense of community and develop the best learning experience for our students.

Our School Council is the active voice for students and represents the student view in a wide range of forums including a regular meeting with the School Governors. The School Council links with both the House Council and CMCD® Student Cadre in school.

How does it work?

Students elect representatives from within their tutor groups to represent them on either the House or School Council. Their role is to represent and put forwards other people’s views even if it is not their own personal opinion.

Elections are held regularly and meetings calendared throughout the year.

The kind of person who makes a good representative must be:

  • Approachable
  • A good listener – everyone in the tutor group has to feel comfortable talking to them
  • Organised – it will be their responsibility to make sure meetings happen in their tutor group on a regular basis
  • Assertive – the opinions of their class are just as important as everyone else's
  • Efficient – class discussions must cover a lot of issues in a short space of time
  • Fair – everyone has the right to express a point of view
  • A good communicator – they can express people views clearly
