Key Stage 5 - Biology

Year 12 (AS Level, AQA Syllabus) 

Unit 1: Biology and Disease. Taught from September to January. One theory exam in January worth 16.7 % of total A2 grade.

Unit 2: The Variety of Living Organisms. Taught from January to May. One theory exam in June worth 23.3 % of total A2 grade.

Unit 3: Investigative and Practical Skills. One practical exam completed within the year worth 10 % of total A2 grade.

Assessments: Internal end of topics tests, regular homework, ISAs and A level mock exams, final exams. 

Year 13 (A2 Level, AQA Syllabus) 

Unit 4: Populations and Environment. Taught from September to January. One theory exam in January worth 16.7 % of total A2 grade.

Unit 5: Control in Cells and in Organisms. Taught from January to May. One theory exam in June worth 23.3 % of total A2 grade.

Unit 6: Investigative and Practical Skills. One practical exam completed within the year worth 10 % of total A2 grade.

Assessments: Internal end of topics tests, regular homework, Essays, ISAs and A level mock exams, final exams.
